If you have a Macbook with limited storage on SDD and don’t want to install ubuntu on the Mac or you just want to have a movable OS with persistent storage (meaning your settings and files are stored on the drive unlike live CD) in your pocket, you have come to the right place.

Featured imageIn this tutorial, we are going to create a bootable usb flash drive from live ubuntu iso file, and use it to install ubuntu on a flash drive. You can use the same method to install Ubuntu on an external Hard drive or on a partition of external Hard drive.

Part-1: Creating bootable USB Flash drive from MAC.

Do you want your digital video library to look as good as this?

Do you want to scrape your media for metadata (download metadata and artwork of TV shows and Movies) locally so that it is compatible with most media players and media center softwares such as Plex Media Center, XBMC, Windows Media Center, etc.?

For this, you have to first prepare your media files (rename and arrange in proper directory structures) in a way that makes the job of media scrappers easier. Cheeck if your videos follow this Media Naming and Organization Guide for Plex. XBMC expects similar format when scrapping metadata for your media – XBMC Media Naming Format.

But don’t worry, you don’t have to rename the files manually if you don’t have them in standard format. The following tools will help you automate the process of renaming and moving the files to proper directories:

  1. theRenamer
  2. MediaManager

I  have come across two wonderful services which lets you track emails you send and be notified when, where (city/country) and how (desktop/mobile) the email was read.

1. SpyPig

Spypig service comes in handy if you want to track your email and want to know exactly when your email was read. It can also give you information such as receiver’s location, ip address and application used to read the mail.

SpyPig is a free email tracking tool that notifies you as soon as your recipient opens your email message. SpyPig is dedicated to all those paranoid individuals out there who can’t stand wondering all day if their VIE (Very Important Email) has been read or not.

As you might know, when you download a file from a browser, it is limited by the speed limit per stream imposed by the download server. Refer to my previous post on using a Download Manager to bypass this limitation: Why you should use Internet Download Manager. But sometimes, using IDM is not an option since the file server is so slow (maybe because of unexpected amount of download requests) that even IDM can’t help you gain full speed. In such case, downloading using BitTorrent client can give you full speed, as the file that you want to download is retrieved in small chunks from hundreds of peers and seeders. ¹

BitTorrent is a very powerful distribution tool for those who share files with several people at once. See how and why Twitter and Facebook, two major technology companies rely on BitTorrent technology to distribute files across their networks – Facebook and Twitter uses BitTorrent and they love it.
